About

Belo Horizonte gains a new art gallery with the birth of Albuquerque Contemporânea. The new proposal reinforces the commitment to contribute to the capital of Minas Gerais positioning itself as a hub for the production and circulation of contemporary art, reaffirming the plurality of art produced in the country. The emphasis is on the primary art market, focusing on established artists and a large team of emerging talents, always looking for exchanges between generations and languages. It also seeks to stand out as a reference center for dialogue between artists, curators, critics, bringing the public closer to works from different artistic aspects.

After directing Celma Albuquerque Galeria de Arte for 20 years, in this new independent project Flávia Albuquerque now is joined by Lucas Albuquerque, the third generation of gallery owners in the family.  in International Relations, an MBA in Contemporary Art at IESA (Paris), courses on the art market at Sotheby's Institute (London) and at the European School of Economics (Florence), with a professional internship at Galleria Continua (San Gimignano).

With that, they combine experience, prestige and renewal. In this process, Albuquerque Contemporânea intends to expand its internationalization, asserting itself as a reference for Brazilian art in fairs abroad, in addition to establishing greater proximity to institutions, residence centers and museums to promote a constant exchange of artists.
