Marcone Moreira is participating in the 6th Montevideo Biennial with the sculpture Vertebral, composed of 600 aluminum helices and approximately 18 meters long. The exhibition takes place in the Salón de los Pasos Perdidos (Lost Steps Hall) in the Legislative Palace.
Entitled "Amazonas Ancestral," this edition of the Biennial is a contribution to COP 30 and curated by Alfons Hug. The exhibition strengthens the political and cultural ties between Uruguay, Brazil, and the rest of the world, proposing a dialogue between art, nature, and contemporary thought. Rather than approaching the Amazon from a utilitarian perspective or linked to economic and ecological benefits, the Biennial recognizes it as a value in itself, nourished by its poetics, diversity, and symbolic power.
