From September 28th to November 19th, BDMG Cultural presents the exhibition “More other than any other”, by visual artist from Belo Horizonte Iago Gouvêa, as part of the 2023 Exhibition Cycle program.
On display at the BDMG Cultural Art Gallery, the exhibition features 25 works, including installations, sculptures and paintings, in three sets of works that explore exploratory and adversity relationships between men and animals.
The In vitro series, developed by the artist since 2017, consists of sculptures of rats in high-temperature ceramic, in which the animals' deformities invite reflection on the limits of science. The second set of works presents materials directly linked to the urban environment, such as cement, rust, tar, flowerbeds and rebar, which highlight the harshness of bird and mammal life in the city. Entitled Anthropomorphic Bestiary, the third environment is made up of a panel of 30 ceramic sculptures, representing anthropomorphized animals, which refer to collections of scientists' records carried out on expeditions throughout Brazil.
