Froiid and Mateus Moreira participate in the Dos Brasis exhibition at Sesc Belenzinho.
Opening on August 2, 2023, the exhibition brings together around 240 black artists, from all states in Brazil, curated by Igor Simões, in partnership with Lorraine Mendes and Marcelo Campos.
The centrality of black thought in the field of Brazilian visual arts, in different times and places. This is one of the main premises that guide the curatorial process of the exhibition Dos Brasis – Arte e Pensamento Negro, the most comprehensive exhibition dedicated exclusively to the production of black artists ever held in the country, which will open on August 2, at Sesc Belenzinho, in São Paulo. From 2024 onwards, part of the exhibition will circulate in Sesc spaces throughout Brazil for the next 10 years.
BLACK THOUGHT
The exhibition presents to the public works in different artistic languages such as painting, photography, sculpture, installations and video installations, produced between the end of the 18th century and the 21st century by 240 black artists, including cis and trans men and women, from all states of the country. CORE
The curatorial proposal breaks divisions such as chronology, style or language. For this exhibition of black art, there will be no formal, stylistic or aesthetic combination.
In this way, the exhibition spaces at Sesc Belenzinho will have seven groups: Romper, Branco Tema, Negro Vida, Amefricanas, Organização Já, Legitima Defesa and Baobá, which have as a reference thoughts from important black intellectuals in the history of Brazil such as Beatriz Nascimento, Emanoel Araújo, Guerreiro Ramos, Lélia Gonzales and Luiz Gama.
