Biography

Nazareno, 1967, São Paulo, SP, Brasil.

Lives and works in São Paulo, SP, Brazil.

Nazareno was born in São Paulo but grew up in Fortaleza, CE. At the age of 19, he moved to Brasília-DF, where he studied the BA in Visual Arts at UnB. In 2003 he moved to São Paulo-SP. In his work, Nazareno addresses the details of human relationships (those little mysteries that we call socialization), as well as issues related to childhood, fairy tales, games, among other things that we understand as memory and history. In addition to his work as an artist, he has worked as a teacher, curator, coordinator of cultural spaces and consultant in plastic arts editions. He works with different media, such as drawing, engraving, sculpture, installation and video. He has held several exhibitions, among which stand out those held at MAM - Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, the Museum of Art in Brasília, Instituto Itaú Cultural, Funarte, Instituto Tomie Ohtake, among others. He participated in national salons, mapping projects such as “Rumos Visuais Itaú” and artistic residencies. His works are in several public and private collections.
