For this edition of Rotas Brasileiras, we present the dialogue between the works of two artists from Minas Gerais, from different generations, who bring the record of the body and its social, political and cultural experiences at the core of their investigations. Flávia Bertinato, an artist represented by the gallery and with a large production that problematizes allegories of the female body, presents her immersion in the "Bullfighting Series", begun in 2021, when she was in residence in Portugal. In this single series, the artist revisits elements such as suspense, seduction, violence and spectacle, already articulated in previous works, experimentally exploring images of bullfighting, in correspondence with an arc of her biographical memories of her childhood in a city rooted in a rural culture of a patriarchal system. Ana Raylander, an artist invited to the fair, presents a selection of different moments of her career, from 2018 to 2024, in which she also explores her personal experiences with a broader sphere of other bodies. In her practice, Ana Raylander seeks to establish a dialogue between collective history and her own history. In the meantime, the artist explores shades of the color brown in different languages, building a palette in the pictorial and discursive sphere.
